Sometime back I had to attend a meeting at work. It was so boring that to keep awake I started tracking all the management mumbo jumbo. Here are a few:
- business model
- vision
- customer focus
- KPI - that is 'key performance index'; shame on you if you didn't know that
- strategy
- vertical markets
- plans going forward - I guess the hoi polio have plans going backward.
- gender diversity - that's a new one
- change our mindset
- doing things differently - plus ca change plus c'est la meme
- synergy
- mission statement
- think outside the box
- Agile Methodology
I can understand that there is a need for such thinking. But why bother the lowly worker with details he/she has no say in. Somewhat like talking about national politics - may be good topic for a Friday after-work drinks, but empty talk otherwise. At least we get to vote every few years to change the top management of the country.
